A little bit of history
10 years ago I met my husband, he worked at Pizza Hut and I was a very underpaid Office Manager. I fell in love with him over the internet and 2 years later we married in a quick ceremony with around 15 people in attendance. Over the next 8 years we have faced many challenges, and conquered many, but 3 issues still exist and we just never make headway. These 3 challenges are nothing too insurmountable to most, but for us, seem like the holy grail.
Our first seemingly insurmountable task is putting away the "poor" label. And I can try to be positive and say we aren't too bad off, but honestly, we can't make ends meet. My husband isn't working and my wage as a bookkeeper doesn't stretch to pay the bills. If we can't get him back into the work force in the next few weeks we will be looking at bankruptcy. At present we are selling what we can to cover bills, but we keep all fingers and toes crossed.
Our second insurmountable task is owning a home. For the above reasons, we just quite seem to be in the right position to build up a deposit to buy a home. With the threat of bankruptcy looming, chances are getting very slim that this will ever be an option. My dream is to own my own home, to DIY and build a nest, it is getting further and further away.
Our last and most important task is having children. Due to health reasons for both of us, infertility is a massive issue. I have PCOS and my husband has low sperm morphology. Because of task 1, we are unable to afford infertility treatments. We are currently overweight, and are trying to get our health under control, but it is a slow process and does not guarantee a positive outcome.
So there it is, our quest for suburbia. We have our hurdles, we have our goals, and we have a wonderful marriage, that despite the challenges, is going strong. Join us on our journey, share our failures and triumphs along the way, hopefully we can entertain you and tell our story.
